Nobody wants a ballooned tummy

Posted on March 23, 2007. Filed under: Thoughts & Esprit |

I found two noteworthy data on my calories transactions:
(1) For my weight, playing general singles tennis for 30 minutes would burn 353 calories. (source) These days, on average, I play about 2 hours of tennis per week.
(2) Each Mayos noodles pack (75g) has total of 363 calories. On average, I eat 2 packs of Mayos every week.

fatThe conclusion of the data is, half of the calories that I burn by playing tennis is evened up alone by the noodles that I eat. What worries me is that currently tennis is the only major calorie burning activity that I do, whereas Mayos is one of the many calories-rich food that I eat. Although my BMI is still in normal range but is marginally under the overweight range; I am little concerned on being fit and staying in shape. After all, nobody wants to have a ballooned tummy. Here is some calorie data accumulated from different sources:

Calories in different foods:

  • 1 average sized banana: 100 calories
  • 1 average size carrot: 30 calories
  • 1 boiled egg: 75 calories
  • 1 Snickers chocolate bar: 149 calories
  • 1 plate plain rice: 151 calories
  • 1 slice cheese pizza: 750 calories
  • 1 regular cheeseburger: 300 calories
  • Pringles per serving (14 crisps): 160 calories
  • Haldiram Bhujiya per serving (27 gm): 170 calories
  • 100ml of Fanta: 52 calories
  • 100ml of Tuborg Beer: 44 calories
  • 100ml of Vodka: 64 calories

.

Calories burnt in different activities:
(60 minutes, for weight 168lbs)

  • Working in Computer: 151 calories
  • Cleaning House (general): 302 calories
  • Walking (@4mph): 504 calories
  • Running (@8.6mph): 1411 calories
  • Bicycling (moderate): 806 calories
  • Swimming (moderate): 806 calories
  • Tennis (singles/general): 706 calories
  • Whitewater rafting: 504 calories
  • Watching TV: 101 calories
  • Sleeping: 91 calories

.

Okay, running at 8.6 mph burns a lot of calories. One can understand why Forrest Gump was so thin.
